7th Feb 2010
There was a Pink footed Goose with a white neck collar A13, on fields near Cockersands Abbey this afternoon. Since it was originally ringed on 2nd April 2007, at Hugborg Kaer, Denmark, it has been resighted an amazing 90 times; which just shows the high value of colour marks in building up life history patterns of migratory birds. It generally seems to spend its winter in the Netherlands and Belguim, before moving north through Denmark to Norway. It was last seen on 5th Jan 2010 in Belguim. This is its first recorded sighting in the UK. More on the Danish project at [pinkfoot.dmu.dk] Ian Hartley Re: Marked Pink-footed Goose

Ian,
I think the amazing thing about this isn't that it has been seen over 90 times, but that it is a Svalbard bird not an Icelandic one. There haven't been that many recorded in Lancs have there? Regards, Stephen Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
